Overview

Umbarger Lamb 19% is Umbarger’s top-selling show lamb ration, a textured complete feed designed to be fed from project start through show day. It contains steam-flaked grains (corn, barley, oats), multiple protein sources (soybean meal, fish meal, sunflower meal, canola meal), and fiber from alfalfa meal and soy hulls. Medicated with Bovatec (lasalocid) at 30 g/ton for coccidiosis prevention. Select this feed based on how the animal looks, not its weight.

Phase Protocols

Weeks 12–9 | Foundation Phase

Primary base feed from project start. Feed alongside quality forage. Introduce supplements based on the animal’s starting condition.

Weeks 8–6 | Condition Building Phase

Continue at 3–4% body weight. Add Loaded for animals needing fat cover; add Star Glo for animals needing fat reduction.

Weeks 5–3 | Fill & Shaping Phase

Adjust rate based on target weight trajectory. Add Change Up for rib shape and fill.

Weeks 2–1 | Final Prep Phase

Fine-tune based on weight class target. Add Bulletproof for bloom and rack shape.

Show Week (Days 5–1)

Maintain at appropriate rate. Use Show Shake for hydration/stress support.

Stacking Protocols

The Lamb 19% is the foundation; Bulletproof (bloom), Star Glo (fat burning), Loaded (cover), and Change Up (fill) are layered on top based on the animal’s individual needs at each phase.
