MoorMan's® ShowTec® Fast Fat

Mini-pellet conditioning topdress — provides smooth finish and cover on show lambs without added copper; pairs with base ration throughout the program

Always read and follow product labels for feeding and sheep safety.

Overview

ShowTec Fast Fat is ADM’s primary conditioning topdress for the ShowTec show lamb program — designed to put a smooth, finished look on lambs throughout the feeding program. At 10% protein, 5% fat, and 3.5% max fiber, it’s a moderate-density mini-pellet. Contains Prosponse® yeast for palatability and digestion support. Explicitly carries no added copper, making it sheep-safe. ADM recommends it as the default fat/cover supplement to pair with any of the ShowTec lamb base feeds.

How Experienced Feeders Actually Use It

Fast Fat is the default ADM-recommended cover supplement for the ShowTec lamb line — explicitly listed in ADM’s own feeding guidelines as the first topdress to add when lambs need more finish. Used throughout the program; adjusted up or down based on condition score. Lower-cost relative to MoorGame; feeders often run both — Fast Fat for baseline cover, MoorGame for bloom/muscle on top.

Real-World Feeding Rate

  • Typical rate: 8–16 oz/100 lb body weight daily; approximately 10 oz/day for a 125 lb lamb
  • Introduction timeline: Any phase; often started alongside the base ration

Phase Protocols

Weeks 12–9 | Foundation Phase

Start at lower end (8 oz/100 lb) for thin lambs building early condition.

Weeks 8–6 | Condition Building Phase

Increase toward 12–16 oz/100 lb if cover is behind.

Weeks 5–3 | Fill & Shaping Phase

Adjust based on condition — reduce if over-conditioned; hold if on track.

Weeks 2–1 | Final Prep Phase

Fine-tune cover. Reduce or hold based on how lambs are presenting.

Show Week (Days 5–1)

Maintain or adjust per condition assessment on arrival at show venue.

Stacking Protocols

ADM’s recommended core stack: ShowTec base feed + #1 Mineral Supplement + Fast Fat. Add MoorGame for bloom and muscle. Add RumaFill for rib shape and fill. Fast Fat handles the baseline cover layer in this stack.

Budget Alternatives

  • Sunglo Sumo or Sunglo Liquafat — comparable fat topdress products
  • Commodity soybean oil — much cheaper per calorie; lacks vitamin stack and palatability profile
