Show-Rite Show Lamb Feeds Compared

Purpose and guaranteed analysis for every Show-Rite feed and supplement in this directory whose label names sheep or lambs, with a comparison table and a link to each product page.

Show-Rite sells a lamb feed line and a long list of supplements. This page only includes products whose label or product page names sheep or lambs. Each note is the purpose and the guaranteed analysis recorded from that page, plus the sheep rate printed there.

Show-Rite Star Shine is in the directory. Its product page does not name sheep or lambs and does not say all species, so it is not in this comparison.

How Show-Rite sits next to Sunglo and Purina is in choosing a show lamb feed brand. The company profile is the Show-Rite brand page.

Always read and follow the product label directions for use, and consult your veterinarian before using any product.

Base feeds

Four Show-Rite base feeds name lambs. Three of them list decoquinate. Lamb Nutribase 800 does not list a medication on the page we have, and it is a mix, not a complete feed.

NewCo Lamb Feed D22.7

Complete textured show lamb feed for muscle, handle, and fat cover. The page says it is formulated for lambs and should not be fed to other species. Key ingredients list decoquinate at 45.4 g/ton.

Guaranteed analysis: crude protein 17% minimum, crude fat 5% minimum, crude fiber 12% maximum. The labeled rate is 1 lb per 100 lb of body weight daily, with forage.

NewCo Lamb Creep D22.7

Mini-pellet creep for young lambs, with the same “lambs only” line as NewCo Lamb Feed. Key ingredients list decoquinate at 45.4 g/ton.

Guaranteed analysis: crude protein 18% minimum, crude fat 4.5% minimum, crude fiber 6.25% maximum. The labeled rate is 1 lb per 100 lb of body weight, with forage.

Fundamental Sheep 14% D22.7

Pelleted feed for flushing ewes, growing lambs, and conditioning rams. The page says not to feed it to sheep producing milk for human consumption. Decoquinate is listed at the equivalent of 22.7 mg per 100 lb of body weight.

Guaranteed analysis: crude protein 14% minimum, crude fat 5% minimum, crude fiber 11% maximum. The labeled rate is 1 lb per 100 lb of body weight, with forage.

Lamb Nutribase 800 A Plus

Pelleted base mix for people who build their own lamb ration. The page says to use 800 lb of the mix in a 2,000 lb batch, aimed at a 19% creep, a 17% grower, or a 14% finisher. It says the mix is for lambs and should not be fed to other species. The page does not list a medication.

Guaranteed analysis on the mix itself: crude protein 25% minimum, crude fat 2% minimum, crude fiber 23% maximum. Those numbers are the base mix, not the finished ration.

Muscle and condition

Muscle-In-Motion

The product page calls this the highest-fat pellet in the Show-Rite line, for dimension, bloom, and fat cover. Sheep and goat directions are printed on the same page as swine and cattle directions.

Guaranteed analysis: crude protein 21% minimum, crude fat 7% minimum, crude fiber 4% maximum, zinc 3,000 ppm minimum, vitamin A 5,500 IU/lb minimum, vitamin E 160 mg/lb minimum. The labeled sheep and goat rate is 6 oz per day as a top-dress.

Sculpt

A pellet the page describes for trimming fat and firming muscle, including front ends. It is labeled for pigs, sheep, goats, and beef cattle.

Guaranteed analysis: crude protein 50% minimum, crude fat 6% minimum, crude fiber 10% maximum, zinc 240 ppm minimum. The labeled sheep and goat rate is 1/4 to 1/2 lb daily, replacing an equal amount of complete feed.

Rite Tyme

A top-dress the page calls specific to show lambs and goats, for lean muscle, hide, and shoulder shape.

Guaranteed analysis: crude protein 40% minimum, crude fat 1% minimum, crude fiber 5% maximum, methionine 10.5% minimum, lysine 1.2% minimum, vitamin C 8,000 IU/lb minimum, vitamin E 800 IU/lb minimum. The labeled sheep and goat rate is 2 oz per head per day. The feeding directions say to begin about 90 to 100 days from the show.

Rite Factor

A pellet the page describes for muscle building or fat use, fed to beef, swine, goats, and sheep.

Guaranteed analysis: crude protein 16% minimum, crude fat 2% minimum, crude fiber 17% maximum, vitamin E 1,922 IU/lb minimum. The labeled rate is 3 oz per head per day, mixed into the regular ration.

Fill

Stretch

A low-fat, high-fiber pellet for belly fill, underline, and rear rib or flank. The page says it expands about three times when mixed with water at a 1:1 ratio. Cattle, sheep, goats, and swine each have a rate.

Guaranteed analysis: crude protein 9% minimum, crude fat 1% minimum, crude fiber 26% minimum. Fiber is a minimum on this tag, not a maximum. The labeled sheep, goat, and swine rate is 1/2 to 2 lb per head per day, with best results in dry form.

Swell

A powder the page describes for show-day fill. Sheep and goats are one set of directions. Pigs and cattle are printed separately.

Guaranteed analysis: crude protein 12% minimum, crude fat 0.3% minimum, crude fiber 5% maximum. The sheep and goat directions say to mix 4 oz of Swell per gallon of water and give 1.5 lb of that mixture every 4 to 6 hours for 48 to 72 hours before the show.

Bloom and fat

Fat-N-Fluffy

A powder the page describes as fat encapsulated in dairy protein, for bloom, coat, and palatability. Sheep and goat directions are separate from the swine line.

Guaranteed analysis: crude protein 7% minimum, crude fat 70% minimum, crude fiber 0.15% maximum. The sheep and goat directions say to start at 2 oz twice a day, with a maximum of 8 oz total per head per day.

Yolked

A powder the page describes for bulk, mass, and fat cover. Goats and sheep share a rate. Pigs and cattle are higher.

Guaranteed analysis: crude protein 30% minimum, lysine 2.9% minimum, crude fat 50% minimum, crude fiber 3% maximum, Bacillus 1.75 billion CFU/lb minimum. The labeled goat and sheep rate is 3 to 6 oz per head, once or twice a day. The directions say to start at least 30 days from the show.

Stamina

Cold-pressed wheat germ oil. The page lists cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, and horses, mixed into feed. Protein and fiber are not on this label because it is an oil.

Guaranteed analysis: linoleic acid 50% minimum, vitamin A 80,000 IU/lb minimum, vitamin D3 800 IU/lb minimum, vitamin E 16,000 IU/lb minimum. The show-animal rate is 1 to 4 oz per head per day. Breeding animals have a separate body-weight line on the same label.

Gut, joints, and show day

Colossal

A powder the page describes for appetite and condition, with prebiotics and probiotics. The directions name the first 30 days after arrival and the 30 days before a target show.

Guaranteed analysis: crude protein 42% minimum, crude fat 13.5% minimum, crude fiber 3% maximum, zinc 200 ppm minimum, vitamin A 100,000 IU/lb minimum, vitamin E 1,000 IU/lb minimum. The labeled sheep and goat rate is 0.5 to 2 oz per head per day.

Rite Flex

Guaranteed analysis: glucosamine HCL 24,000 mg/lb minimum, chondroitin sulfate 7,000 mg/lb minimum, selenium 8.7 ppm minimum, vitamin E 4,000 IU/lb minimum, vitamin C 4,000 mg/lb minimum. The labeled rate for swine and sheep is 2 oz per head per day. Other joint products that name sheep are compared in Joint Supplements for Show Lambs.

Exhale

A paste labeled for cattle, sheep, goats, and swine. The page describes it as a respiratory aide for temporary breathing difficulty, and it says there is no withdrawal period for meat animals. The product page does not list a guaranteed analysis. The labeled rate is 2 ml per 100 lb of body weight, at the back of the tongue, up to twice a day.

Comparison table

A dash means that nutrient is not listed on the product page. Fiber is a maximum unless the cell says minimum. Medication is included only where the page lists it.

Stamina’s label lists linoleic acid and vitamins instead of protein and fat. Rite Flex lists glucosamine, chondroitin, selenium, vitamin E, and vitamin C. Those figures are in the sections above.

The full feeds and supplements directories include the other brands. Supplements from those brands, grouped by the job on the label, are in Show Lamb Supplements by Goal.

Always read and follow the product label directions for use, and consult your veterinarian before using any product.
