Overview

Cherry Krave is Kalmbach’s creep/starter for young show lambs — a mini-pellet built for high palatability with a cherry flavor and aroma. At 18% protein and 5% fat, it delivers more energy than most creep feeds and is specifically designed to drive intake and early bloom in project lambs. Includes probiotics (Lactobacillus, Bifidobacterium, Bacillus), yeast culture, dehulled soybean meal, whole cottonseed, and dehydrated alfalfa. Medicated with Deccox at 45.4 g/ton.

How Experienced Feeders Actually Use It

Cherry Krave is the early-project starter — the first feed lambs see coming off their mothers. The cherry flavor drives intake in young lambs that are transitioning to dry feed. High fat (5%) for a creep is notable — it builds early condition and bloom alongside the protein. Some feeders continue Cherry Krave beyond weaning when lambs are thin or need palatability encouragement.

Real-World Feeding Rate

  • Typical rate: 1 lb per 100 lb body weight; free-choice in creep feeders for young lambs
  • Introduction timeline: Project start / weaning through first 6–8 weeks
